Cancun Airport FBO: Your Private Terminal
Skip the crowds and experience Cancun International Airport (CUN) through the exclusive FBO—a private terminal with dedicated customs, luxury lounges, and your car waiting steps from the aircraft.
What Is an FBO?
FBO stands for Fixed Base Operator—a private aviation terminal separate from the main commercial airport. When you arrive in Cancun by private jet, you don't go through the crowded main terminal. Instead, you taxi directly to the FBO, where you're greeted in a private lounge and clear customs in minutes.
Think of the FBO as the VIP entrance to Cancun. Your aircraft parks just steps from the building. Immigration officers come to you (not the other way around). Your ground transportation pulls up directly outside. The entire process from touchdown to car takes about 15-20 minutes—compared to 60-90 minutes through the commercial terminal.
Cancun International Airport (ICAO: MMUN) serves as the primary gateway to the Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and the Hotel Zone. It's one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean for private aviation.
Cancun FBO Facilities
Cancun Airport has two primary FBO facilities serving private aviation. Both offer excellent service—we'll recommend the best option based on your aircraft and travel needs.

Cancun FBO FAQs
Customs and immigration at the Cancun FBO typically takes 5-15 minutes for most passengers. Officers process you directly inside the private terminal—no walking to separate buildings or waiting in queues. Your total time from wheels-down to car is usually 15-20 minutes, compared to 60-90+ minutes through the commercial terminal.
Yes, two forms are required:
- Mexico Tourist Card (FMM): You can complete this online before travel or at the FBO upon arrival. We recommend doing it online at INM's website.
- Customs Declaration: A simple form declaring any items of value. Usually completed on board before landing.
We'll send detailed instructions before your flight with links to all required forms.
All FBO fees are included in your charter quote. You won't pay anything extra at the FBO itself. Our pricing covers landing fees, handling fees, FBO facility fees, and customs processing. The only additional costs would be optional services like premium catering or extended aircraft storage.
Yes, in most cases your driver can enter the FBO and meet you in the lounge after you clear customs. They can help with luggage and escort you directly to your vehicle. For security purposes, drivers need to provide ID and vehicle information in advance—we coordinate this automatically when arranging your ground transportation.
Both Cancun FBOs operate 24/7. Customs officers are on-call for private aviation arrivals at any hour. Late-night arrivals may require slightly more advance notice (usually 2-4 hours) to ensure customs officers are available, but this is handled automatically through our flight coordination. There's no curfew for private jets at Cancun.
We recommend arriving at the FBO 30-45 minutes before your scheduled departure. This allows time for Mexican exit immigration, crew briefing, and boarding. Unlike commercial flights, there's no lengthy security screening or gate walking. If you arrive early, you can relax in the lounge with complimentary refreshments and Wi-Fi.
Yes! The new Tulum International Airport (TQO) opened in 2024 and offers another option for private jet arrivals. If your final destination is Tulum, the Riviera Maya south of Playa del Carmen, or the Sian Ka'an Biosphere, Tulum Airport can save you 60-90 minutes of drive time compared to Cancun. See our Tulum Airport page for details.
Yes, both FBOs offer aircraft storage options:
- Ramp parking: Outdoor tie-down, typically included for short stays
- Hangar storage: Climate-controlled, available based on space—recommended for longer stays or during hurricane season
For charter clients, ramp parking during your trip is included. If you need hangar storage or are bringing your own aircraft, let us know and we'll coordinate availability and pricing.
